This discussion group is set up as a space for web developers across the Pursuing Perfection sites to share what they have done and what their experiences have been. It is also intended that other folks will review this information and share thoughts and feedback.

What URLs have other Pursuing Perfection sites developed as part of their healthcare system reform efforts? Here's a brief summary of what I've discovered so far in making connections with some of you:

  • Whatcom County (Annie) has a website including both Pursuing Perfection project information and patient education information (particularly diabetes and heart disease)
  • Hackensack (Elizabeth) has a website on the Pursing Perfection Project along with links to their Heart Failure Program and Anticoagulation Services:
  • Tallahassee (Linda) has a section on their Pursuing Perfection Project along with an in-depth Intranet site designed for delivering Patient Education materials.
  • Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (Scott) has developed patient portals for liver transplant and are working on more. They have offered to demonstrate this at some point. They also have a site describing their work with Pursuing Perfection and their Evidence-based Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • It seems like the other groups not mentioned above are interested in web innovation but may not yet have anything substantial up on the web.

Happening:  We have been working on building out a section of the website that would be welcoming, informative, and interactive for patients interested in the project. In particular, we would like to invite people who are interested in being involved in the changes we are making to fill out a Patient/Family Representative form. This section of the site is called "Patient Voice".

Upon review of this section, what are your thoughts? Is it welcoming? Is it informative? Does it inform you about why we need patients involved, what you would do as a Patient/Family Representative, and how to become one?

Thanks for your input.

Kind of a subset of Patient Voice is the topic of Patient Centeredness. We have just begun building a site designed to inform patients and clinicians about the concept of patient-centeredness. One thought is that we might look into building out this site to the point where it can be offered as CME. Any thoughts?

Annie, I really appreciated your demonstration of the Patient Centeredness content this morning. I will find the time to review it in detail this weekend. Thank you Annie and Bill Mahoney.

Hi Annie,

Thank you for your initiative with developing a communications vehicle for Pursuing Perfection web editors/developers. In an effort to keep participants informed, our Pursuing Perfection web site was recently updated again. We added a few more initiatives and have developed a description of the patient benefits for each program.

It has been very informative to see the different approaches of the grantees on their web sites, and I look forward to our ongoing communications.
